Cartridge Type
Genuine or OEM (Original) Cartridges Remanufactured Cartridges Compatible Cartridges
Description OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer, meaning the cartridge was made by the same company that made your printer. Original brand cartridges are very reliable and sometimes the only option if your printer is new to market or uncommon. Remanufactured ink is a genuine brand cartridge that has gone through one cycle of use. After use, the cartridge is recycled, acquired by a remanufacturing facility and put through a rigorous professional refurbishing process. During the refurbishing process the cartridge is disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and tested for quality. It's then carefully refilled, tested again and brought back to life. Buying remanufactured prevents one less cartridge from ending up in a landfill. A compatible cartridge is a brand new ink cartridge built by a manufacturer other than your printer. It's like buying the generic version of the genuine brand. Most are uniquely designed to differentiate from genuine cartridges. Despite any structural difference you may notice, the cartridge will still fit in your machine and print a full yield, just like the original brand.
Price Factors Many printer manufacturers follow the razor-and-blades business model which may result in higher priced genuine cartridges. Remanufactured ink is much cheaper than the original brand ink. It's far more cost effective to refurbish a previously used cartridge than create a new OEM from scratch. Compatible ink is much cheaper than the original brand. Compatible suppliers don't have to worry about the additional costs that hinder OEMs like new printers or firmware, which lets them keep prices low.
Quality Original cartridges work extremely well and are covered under a warranty by the printer manufacturer High quality remanufactured ink will match the quality of the original, but not all remanufactured ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results. High quality compatible ink will match the quality of the original, but not all compatible ink is created equal. Make sure you buy from a reputable supplier in order to get the absolute best results.
What's the difference between ink and toner cartridges?
Ink Cartridges Toner Cartridges
Printer Type Work with inkjet printers Work with laser printers
Material Liquid ink Dry powder
How it works Inkjet printers use a series of nozzles that spray tiny drops of ink directly on the print suface Laser toner printers use static electricity and heat to bond dry toner powder to a page
Commonly used by Casual home users, small business and photographers Large businesses and schools
Number of Pages You Can Print A cartridge's page yield is the estimated number of pages you can print. Page yield is based on 5% page coverage. This means that the quoted page yield is based upon printed pages where only 5% of the page has been imprinted with ink. For example, a short memo has approximately 5% coverage. If you have a cartridge that has a yield of 500 pages, it can print 500 pages of that short memo. If you are printing letters, photos or graphics, your coverage will vary greatly and your page yield will drop significantly.
Cartridge Warranty and Shelf Life Most ink and toner cartridges include a warranty or "best by" date on their box. Remanufactured and compatible ink cartridges can last 12-18 months unopened, and toner cartridges can last up to 3 years.
Cartridge Care and Storage Only open a cartridge when you need it. Opened cartridges will eventually dry out, especially if the protective tape or clip has been removed. If you have an open ink cartridge around and would like to try and prevent it from drying out, place it nozzle side up in a plastic airtight tub. If your cartridge came with protective tape or a clip reapply both before storing. Place a damp cloth or paper towel in the tub, next to the cartridge and keep it stored in a cool, dark place.

  • 9-Piece Remanufactured Epson 252XL Ink Cartridge Set

    Q:

My question is with the re manufactured ink will the color come out faded. The reason why I asked is because we just had to get a refurbished printer because something was wrong with the print heads, so every time we would print in color instead of the color being red it would come out pink. Will we have this issue with this ink?

    • A:

On a WF-3620 I tried two of the 252 CYN High Capacity carts. Both seemed to clog the print head after a little use. I had to run some Epson Ink through to clear the heads, I did not try the other two colors. Perhaps I just had a few bad ones. Returned them with no hassles and did not try the standard capacity carts yet.

The 252 HL Black cartridges seem to work fine for me. Now on second one and have not had any problems. One just plugged in and went, second had the non-Epson ink warning and hung up but after a power down and up the printer seems to be happy. The ink levels also show up. Will buy more of these.

    Q:

Regarding your cartridges for the Epson WF-7620 printer

What kind of ink is in the cartridges? Dye, pigmented, Archival? The reason I ask is I have a clogged print head and want to use a kit to clean it and the compatibility of that kit:

"Compatible with all ink types except pigment, UV, solvent, light-fast, archival"

So I just need to know if that kit will work with your ink.

    Thanks,

Will using the Remanufactured High Yield Black Ink Cartridge for Epson 252XL (T252XL120) void any warranty I might have with my new WF-3640?

My printer is new and I don't want to void any warranty by using a non-Epson ink cartridge
Asked on 3/24/2015 by JJ from NY

    1 answer

    • A:

Great Question! We are often asked this by potential customers and the answer is always NO. All manufacturers of printers lose money through the sale of their printer and attempt to make it back through the high prices sale of the cartridges. They will use several scare tactics to persuade customers to purchase their OEM/Brand new cartridges. It is against the law for them to void your warranty for using aftermarket items unless the manufacturer can prove that the compatible product caused direct damage to your printer. No company, associate, salesperson, or service technician can deny you service or warranty work that would otherwise be covered under a warranty program simply because you use a compatible product.

252XL High Yield vs. 252 Standard

The 252 XL high Yield appears to be much wider than the Standard Cartridge. It does not look as if it would fit in the cartridge slot allotted to it.

    Why is this ???
Asked on 10/16/2014 by Jim from Florida

    • A:

That is a great question! The 252XL contains more ink than the standard 252 cartridge. We do have a compatible printer list underneath the cartridge specification box on our site. Please double check your printer model number to make sure it can fit the XL cartridge.

    Q:

What happens if the cartridge is not recognized in our printer?

We purchased a new Epson WF3640 for our office. We have used your ink many timespreviously and have no problems, but what happens if this printer does not recognize the ink? Can it be returned, and if so, who pays for return shipping, or do you just replace it or give a credit back to the credit card? Obviously the return shipping charge is not very cost effective if that is necessary. We use a lot of ink, so best to ask before we make the purchase.

Hopefully all will be good as it is in my other printer.

    Thank you

At these prices, it doesn't pay to mess with refill kits or chip re-setters. LS is 5-stars with me.

Been buying from LD for years now and never had issues with any cartridges before. I owned Brother and Hewlitt Packard printers without any issues. I recently purchased an Epson printer and have had nothing but problems with the replacement cartridges. At first I thought it was the printer and had it replaced twice while under warranty. But now I see it is the cartridges that are not up to what I expected. The company told me they got a defective batch and was happy to take them back for a refund. They told me to reorder when a new shipment comes in but I am not so sure I want to do that.
